Ac3 Codec For .vob Dvd Needed, Playing a DVD

SuSE 9.3 Pro
I'm trying to play an advertisement DVD with film trailers. (The only non-data DVD I had home.) The file format is .vob. The picture is good and moving but there's no sound and xine complained that the coding format was unknown 'AC3'. Kaffeine, Noatun and Xine plays the film without sound. RealPlayer 10 says:
Code:
The player does not have the capabilities to play this content
The following components are required:
vob
URL:
file:///home.../vts_01_2.vob
And Totem won't even start.
Code:
Totem couldn't start
Resource busy or not available

try at mplayerhq.org , check out 'essential codecs packages' copy to /usr/lib/win32

get hold of
libdvdcss2-1.2.9-1.1.102plf.i586 decypter
vobcopy-0.5.14-2plf.i586 translates vob to: NEW-FORMAT
decypts & copies vob (other) files straight to h/disk

if you want a one-stop proggie transcode -may have to build it..! mencoder/mplayer 1.xx
these together have most codecs.

the transcode home page will have further reading - to check out.

search google or similar for key names: codecs ac3 vob avi etc under linux.

legs.
