Problem installing Lian Li Model TR-3 Fan controller
I know this is not strictly a Linux problem but I can't find any relevant help from Lian Li's web site or any other web forum.
I want to install a just purchased Lian Li 3.5" LCD thermometer/fan controller Model TR-3 into my pride & joy machine (running Suse 10.3) but the set up instructions are confusing, incomplete and lack information as to where the three temperature sensors should be placed. One is for the CPU, one for SYS-r and one for SYS-f. But where exactly do they attach?
Also with the fan control I assume the CPU fan wire attaches to the unit instead of the motherboard and similar for the other fan leads.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Fluffer.
G'day Peacedog, Thanks for that. I did find that pdf during my searches but it does not indicate where the temp sensors etc. are to be placed. e.g. is the CPU temp sensor placed between the CPU and the heatsink or somehow stuck on the side of the CPU? Neither seems correct to me. There is just no information as to where the temp sensor, or the two others, are to be placed. But that sheet is a good help to set up the time and display, much clearer instructions than the interesting translation that came with the unit. I will keep searching.
Much appreciated.

You should be fine to attach one lead to the side of the heat sink. You could slide it gently between the heat sink and cpu, but not too far in. The other two leads could go on a Hard drive and some random spot inside the case. That's about the best I can make of it. If it were me, I might consider attaching the third sensor to the backside of the gpu. Hope that helps.
Good luck. ;-)
Thanks again Peacedog. Yes, that seems to be about the best solution. I was sorta thinking along a similar line to your suggestion but I had not thought about the backside of the gpu - that's a logical spot. It's amazing to me that Lian Li don't provide adequate fitting information for their product. I have a case from them (PC60 plus) and it's great.
Regards, Fluffer.
