Howdy
I don't have a lot of time to tinker which kinda goes against the whole Linux experience IMHO, so I will just ask.
Shouldn't any 32-bit binary work on a 64-bit system assuming the emul-linux-x86 packages are installed? I have an old Canon printer (ip2600 ... I think it's pixus in the west) which worked on my old 32-bit box but not my 64-bit. I dug around as best as I could, and followed the installation of their prebuilt 32-bit pacakge, but never got it to work. Frustrated, I stuck it off to the side for about a year now and haven't bothered.
On that note... another question about how Samba shares a printer on a system. I'm assuming since anyone remote machine wanting to access the printer has to have the driver installed, it really doesn't matter if it's installed my base linux machine. IE, I could install the 64-bit Mac driver and print via my Macbook pro (shared through Samba) with hopefully little hassle, no? Problem I'm on my Linux box 90% of the time, but that's another issue.
