Printer Suggestions

I'm trying to replace an old Kyocera laser printer that just recently died on me. I haven't decided yet if I want to go with laser or inkjet in the new printer. If inkjet, I'd like to get an MFC. The obvious advantage of laser is a much lower cost per page. I mostly print text, so color is not critical to me. I'm trying to keep it at or under $100 (being a college student), so I've ruled out color laser and laser MFC. Any suggestions on a printer that works very well with linux (and, if an MFC, can scan as well)?
