Print Quality Loss

I have an HP Deskjet 950C. I have the latest HPLIP drivers installed on Ubuntu, and the latest HP drivers installed on Windows XP.

I set both drivers to High Quality, 300 dpi. I set the same JPEG to print at 50% of its original size. I get two prints.

The one from Linux is grainy; I can see the individual dots, whereas the one from Windows is seamless.

I tries setting the Linux drivers to 600 dpi, which made no difference.

Does anyone know how I can up the quality of my prints?

Thanks,
Raeth

Have you viewed the information about your printer and that driver in Linux ?

http://openprinting.org/show_printer...P-DeskJet_950C

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/

Maybe some of that documentation will resolve your issue.
