pppoe harware question


hi i just want connect to my dsl line thru my linux box using PPPoE and connect my 3 more pc. do i need a modem? and if i need a modem what kind of modem? can a ordinary modem work in a digital line? also do i need a lan card?

Yes you need a modem. You need a DSL modem that is compatable with your ISP. Make sure the modem has an ethernet connector since not all USB devices are linux compatable. So yes to needing a LAN card. You also need to install filters on all telephones and other devices that attach to the phone line with DSL service.

An ordinary modem ( I assume you mean dial up) will not work.
