PC Speaker not working

Hi

I compiled pcspkr as a module and made it load automatically at startup, but the speaker is still not working. The dmesg output shows:

PM: Adding info for platformcspkr
input: PC Speaker as /devices/platform/pcspkr/input/input8

I also checked in modprobe.conf in case it's in blacklist but it isn't
however, I found this line:

alias pnp:dPNP0800 pcspkr

Any idea? By the way, I am using Gentoo Linux with kernel-2.6.30-r8 on Acer Aspire laptop

Thanks in advance.

You don't seem to mention it, but should I assume you have checked that the module has properly loaded with lsmod? Something like:

Code:
lsmod | grep pcspkr
How are you testing the speaker, by the way? Or in other words, what are you trying to do to make the speaker make noise? It could be that the terminal settings have the bell disabled.

Hi

Normally, when gdm starts we should hear a beep but its not my case

Here's by the way the output of lsmod:
pcspkr 1920 0

Thanks
