Why is i cant seem to get the speaker working

i cant seem to be able to activate the sound system. i've tried changing the driver to emu10k1 , the default is snd-emu10k1. i've also tried using audigy.

1 more problem is that my mp3 files have become read me files which i cannot open with my mp3 player after upgrading from mandrake 9.1

i've also notices that the xmms functions is gone

With a sb soundcard, I've found that the emu10k1 driver is the only one that really works. The odd thing is that it reverses the front and rear sound output. I have a 4 speaker setup so I'm guessing you might have just 2. If this is the case, plug your speakers into the rear output on your sound card and see if you have sound.

Hi,

It may sound stupid but please check the Master and PCM volumes, they may be set to zero... That is what happened with my SB Live! card when I did a fresh install of Mdk 9.2.
