output from scanmodem

Quick newbie question-

I installed linux, and now am unable to have
the modem be recognized. I have downloaded
scanmodem, and have run it in the
command window-the output races by and
the screen closes before I can read it. Is this
output being output to file anywhere?
If not, how do I freeze output window?

THanks

Have a look at this site: http://www.pcworld.co.nz > Past articles > Authors > Geoff Palmer > Linux step by step - part 2.

which referred me to the following site:

http://support.ap.dell.com/ap/en/fil...?fileid=R47114

I downloaded the broadcom driver, saved and ran the rpm file-
however it has not changed the result. I am still receiving a
message that no modem is found.

Any ideas?

Have a look in /lib/modules/your version/drivers to see if your drivers are there, and then run in a terminal (su) : insmod -f /lib/modules/2.4.22-10mdk/ltmodem/lt_modem.o and insmod -f /lib/modules/2.4.22-10mdk/ltmodem/lt_serial.o (this is my setup, so substitute your own files).
Run lsmod to see if your drivers have been loaded, and then use kppp or similiar to set up connection.
