network card module problem suse 9.1

Hello all.

I downloaded the boot iso for SuSE 9.1 yesterday and burned it to a CD. I also downloaded the modules (1-5) on 3.5".

Last night when I tried to run a FTP install, I could never get the Network Card module to load. I have a old computer, but I was able to do a FTP installation of SuSE9.0 on this machine a few months ago.

I booted 9.0 and through YaST2 I determined that my card was a 3COM 3c905c-tx (that's from memory). I tried all the 3COM cards using eth0, but to no avail.

What else could I do on the running 9.0 to help me pick the proper module for the 9.1 install?

cheers,

NCAussie

Wow!

This is a first. It's been several hours and no one has even told me to "search" for a previous posting! Just kidding. Really, I kid.

I went to SuSE and they list that network card as "problematic" under 7.1, 7.3, 8.0...I didn't have any problems with it running those releases!

I ended up downloading the "Personal" iso and will attempt to install that this evening.

If it looks good, I'll go ahead and plunk down the $$ for a full package. I guess that is only fair. I purchased 7.3 and 8.2. I skipped 9.0, so I guess it's time to support the community again. Back to drinking PBR's for the rest of the month though.

I'm a moron. I figured it out. Apparently it was too late the other evening and the most obvious answer didn't hit me hard enough for me to see.

I'll be back
