Network Card Module wont load.

Code:
[root@localhost src]# modprobe sis900
/lib/modules/2.4.18-14/kernel/drivers/net/sis900.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including inva
lid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.18-14/kernel/drivers/net/sis900.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.18-1
4/kernel/drivers/net/sis900.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.18-14/kernel/drivers/net/sis900.o: insmod sis900 failed
My sis900 module wont load for my sis900 network card in redhat 8.0 (linux 2.4.18-14)
The exact same module is running my network card fine in RedHat7.3. Is there any other things i should try to load this module?

yes.
i figured out the problem. I viewed the output from dmesg and found:
PCI: this computer doesnt support PCI

so i added "pci=bios" to the entry for redhat8 and it works fine now.

redhat 9 + sis900

Hi,
I have problem about sis900 it does not work!!!!

NOW, I install Redhat 9 and sis900 on board.
when I use lsmod, modprobe sis900 and try to restart it

Error messages as below:

"redhat-config-network: Cannot activate network device eth0!"
"SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy. Failed to bring up eth0:0. "

Where did you add "pci=bios" and how ?

I have also had problems with SIS900 onboard network interfaces when using MDK8.2, mdk9.0 mdk9.1 and knoppix on a PIV ASRock motherboard. The system seems to be configured OK but it does not work.

It does work with mdk8.1.

I have tried with two motherboards using several CPUs with the same result.

However using the same installation disks on a jetway 630CF motherboard which also has a SIS900 on board network interface, every thing works OK.

Does anyone know why or better still have a cure

ALAN
