For "B-size", all the Laser printers are going to be pretty high-end. I'll bet that ink-jet is cheaper. Are you interested only in B&W?
My first choice for a high-end laser would be HP---and they are the best for Linux support of all printers. If you need color--or might in the future, then consider one of the wide-carriage inkjets.
Epson is my first choice, then Canon, then HP. Epson has OK Linux support, Canon is doubtful, and HP is still the best.
CHEAP SOLUTION : I have been using various older Panasonic dot matrix printers for years and if you are only doing text and say charts, they are great and ribbons are way cheaper than ink cartridges. I had a wide carriage Panasonic KXP-1624 that would print out the Bible if you had room for the sheet fed paper to neatly pile up. They are available from eBay quite reasonably. The printer heads are 24 pin and the output is very readable. The wide carriage printers were built for commercial applications and are very rugged. Most Linux app's also support them.
B&W Laser Printers :
Lexmark optra 614 20ppm $450 Lexmark T632 30ppm $650, Hp laser jet 4240n/4250n 30ppm $650
B&W Multifunction :
Richo Aficio 2035eG $6000 sorting, stapling, faxing, scanning, scan to mailbox, duplex print/copy internal hardrive and copy storage server with spill to next tray, 4 drawer stack. 60ppm single side 30 double side, 8.5 x 11 to 11 x17 scanning and printing.
Samsung 4200 $200 copy, scan and print 20 ppm.
I know these work. I have seen them work. Scanning with Samsung is a sometimer 11x8.5 print only. Legal size scanning. Note that the Richo is the only working working B size printer I have seen and that one is leased, besides a pen driven plotter I seen at Massey-Feguson R & D lab. The plotter was working off a PDP 11.
