My Palm Sync solution in Ubuntu

I just thought I'd post this in case someone might find it useful.

Over the course of my 3-year use of Linux I'd always had some trouble getting my PDA working. I used to have to may symbolic links like /dev/pilot and such. But for my device -- a Sony Clie SJ20 -- the setup was really easy in Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake).

I just reinstalled dapper, in fact. And I was unpleasantly surprised when I realized when my device wouldn't hotsync. Then I installed jpilot and the device worked immediately.

So here's my two cents: If you're having trouble getting your palm OS device recognized and synching in Ubuntu, try installing jpilot (sudo apt-get install jpilot) and see what happens.
