Hello,
I'm still tring to get my 9600XT to work with 3D in SUSE 9.0 Pro.
I checked 3Ddiag and it came up with a few problems so I sorted them (adding lines to XF86Config) and restarted X server. No change.
So I checked the /var/log/XFree86.0.log for signs of trouble. Everything looks fine until:
Code:
(EE) fglrx(0): [agp] unable to acquire AGP, error "xf86_ENOMEM"
(EE) fglrx(0): cannot init AGP
(II) fglrx(0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel
(II) fglrx(0): [drm] unmapping 8192 bytes of SAREA 0xe18e5000 at 0x40022000
(WW) fglrx(0): ***********************************************
(WW) fglrx(0): * DRI initialization failed! *
(WW) fglrx(0): * (maybe driver kernel module missing or bad) *
(WW) fglrx(0): * 2D acceleraton available (MMIO) *
(WW) fglrx(0): * no 3D acceleration available *
(WW) fglrx(0): ***********************************************
Could this AGP error be stopping DRI initializing properly. I lsmod'ed and found that agpgart was NOT running on my system. When I modprobe'd it worked fine, unlike RH which moaned about missing agpgart.o or something. These are the results from glxgears:
Code:
1405 frames in 5.0 seconds = 281.000 FPS
1360 frames in 5.0 seconds = 272.000 FPS
Not as bas as 86FPS (RH config) but still nowhere close to what I want! I also can't run fgl_glxgears....I get a fbconfig error.
Anyways I would be eternally grateful if someone would take time to help me sort this.
TIA,
Andy
