MX1000 in KDE 3.4
Hello. I recently upgraded to KDE 3.4, and I have a new "MX 1000 Laser Mouse" tab in my mouse settings in the KDE Control Center. However, the options in this pane are grayed out. When running Control Center with my limited user account, there is a message at the bottom which says "You have a Logitech mouse connected, and libusb was found at compile time, but it was not possible to access this mouse. This is probably caused by a permissions problem - you should consult the manual on how to fix this." When I run Control Center as root, the battery level indicator for the mouse appears to work, but the other options are grayed out, and there is a message which reads "Mouse type: Unknown mouse". What do I need to do to change to enable all the options for my MX1000?
Note: I am using ExplorerPS/2 for my mouse protocol in xorg.conf, I have not configured evdev, as I don't really use the extra buttons. I'm not sure if this is relevant or not. Also, my mouse is connected via usb, and my distro is Fedora Core 3 with kernel 2.6.12-1.1372 and KDE version 3.4.2-1.2.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
