Unhappy No wheel in Suse 9.1 (Logitech MX1000)

OK. I had the same thing happen with Slack 9 and 10 and now with Suse 9.1 the same thing has happened. I don't think it has anything to do with the brand or the fact that it's the new laser mouse from Logitech.

The mouse works perfectly (actually it tracks better under linux than Windoze) but the wheel is as dead as a door knob. Can anyone perhaps enlighten me as to what I may need to do?

Cheers

To get that working you need to add two lines to your xorg.conf file (or xf86config file depending on what X implementation you use) section dealing with your mouse input device:

Code:
 Identifier "Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Buttons" "5" # THIS LINE!!
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" # AND THIS LINE!!

This does the trick for me. Let me know how it works for you.

MOUSEWHEEL - ENABLING in SuSE:
Menu: system > configuration > sax2 > Input devices > mouse > properties > expert > check: enable mousewheel (make sure two other boxes are unchecked).

Restart session.
