MDK 10.0 with scanner into parallel port. MDK control center shows compatible with this scanner but I don't think it shows /dev/lp0 as an option to select device unless it is listed as /dev/parport0, but still doesn't work.
I have borrowed USB version of this same scanner that is detected and works fine, so I think the drivers are there but is not being detected thru lp0.
Is it possible that MDK 10 is expecting a printer on the lp0 and if so how can I configure/reset lp0 into the "select device" list for the scanner to include lp0?
I have a Mustek CP600 Scanner running off of my printer port(which is also shared by my printer). Do you have "sane-backends", " sane-frontends", "saned", and "xsane" installed? Also brand and model of scanner would be helpful. Do you have your printer port set in the CMOS as EPP (some devices do not like ECP Printer ports)? I had to manually configure my scanner with the "sane" config files.
Most parallel-port scanners are not auto-detected IIRC. Read the documentation for your scanner's backend; it will tell you what you need to configure. Also, make sure you're running the latest version of SANE as this may help you avoid problems.
Correct.....the scanner config tool in the control center does not auto detect parallel port devices but offers /dev/paport0,1,2,3 as "select device" options. Shouldn't these work? (they didn't)
Using MDK 10.0 with Microtek slimscan C6 which is listed in the conf tool as supported.
The USB version of this scanner(borrowed) was detected and works fine so I know the drivers are there, but I am not familiar with what SANE backend, frontend, ppscsi, or onscsi is.
