for your information, i've successfully completed the project on April 2008 after doing a lot of self-study, testing, troubleshooting, and research on linux environment including programming, hardware, software, networking, compatibility, etc..

Thanks a lot to theNbomr and maroonbaboon for your precious advices, guidance, and helps. My appreciation also goes to this efficient and useful forum - LinuxQuestions.org

Here's another thing i wanna share: [The abstract of my project]
Hopefully, any reader of this post/thread will know exactly what is my objective from the beginning, the obstacles/hardships i've faced, and the consequences in each of my post previously. pleas note that i'm a newbie to <Linux world> that time.
(i think i'm a little bit childish that time. yes..i mean it)

Abstract:
"Embedded Linux is becoming popular recently. The reliability, flexibility and its open source factor are among the cause of its rapid growth. This project is mainly concerned on designing a Linux based embedded controller for access control system. The controller must be able to read a magnetic card through a card reader, compare it with database, and then capture image of the card's owner. Linux distribution for desktop (Ubuntu 7.04) was used as the development platform and Voyage Linux was used for target platform. The target platform is x86 based architecture. Most of the works were done in development platform and then transferred to the target platform. C language and Linux Bash Script was used for the programming part in the controller. HTML code, PHP Script, and MySQL query also used to design the user interface for the controller. The controller will act as a server and it will be connected through a Local Area Network. User can access what is inside the controller such as database and pictures by using the user interface via web browser. Through the project, an embedded system was designed and tested to test its performance and to fix any bug that occurred."
Date: April 2008.
