Lexmark z611

I own a lexmark z611, and i went through the process to install a driver to print in Mandriva, but at a certain point (not very far into installation) i encounter major problems.

[root@d00-64-106-85-66 rpm2targz]# ./install
+ gcc -o rpmoffset rpmoffset.c
./install: line 3: gcc: command not found
+ install -m755 rpmoffset rpm2targz /usr/bin
install: cannot stat `rpmoffset': No such file or directory

what does it mean? i looked in /usr/bin and the rpm2targz shell script is there, but what is "rpmoffset" and how do i fix the issue?

Thanks for your time,
-Monty

I don't know what the above means, but I know I ditched my Z611 because I couldn't do anything to make it work.
