Kernel 2.6.2 and Silicon Image 3112 Serial ATA controller.

Has anyone found a way to detect a SI3112 controller on boot with the 2.6.2 kernel?

Just make sure you have the driver compiled in the kernel. It's called "Silicon Image chipset support" and is located under Device Drivers >> ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL Support in menuconfig.

so this will essentially make the device a /dev/hd[x] instead of /dev/sd[x] ?

My harddrive got mapped to /dev/hde. I needed the controller support to see my harddrive at all.

jhiza, yes it does.

The first SATA drive gets mapped to /dev/hde since you probably have a two channel PATA IDE controller installed which provides /dev/hda to hdd. If you choose the "reverse IDE" option in your kernel configuration the SATA drive should become hda, but I think that's pretty redundant.
