Silicon Image Serial ATA chip

Hi all,

I have the Gigabyte 8KNXP Intel motherboard with Silicon Image Serial ATA chip intergrated.

How well is this supported in linux, and also will my SuSE 8.2 default install detect the drives.

aparently not well at all.

It appears from the posts that the SIL3112 chip is visible only in non-raid mode, starts up in ultra slow PIO mode, and the only raid support appears to be striping, not mirroring.

The Intel SATA chip appears to be even less well supported.

If your kernel is 2.4.22 or more, SATA is native in kernel.
