Is your main PC 32-bit or 64-bit?

I do still have two machines that are 32bit, so SOME 32bit support is still appreciated, but at least in my world, 64bit definitely seems to be the new normal.

I'm fairly certain you'll have VERY few people that still have 32-bit only hardware. While there will be some, it's going to be a very small percentage.

Agreed Tim. I'm just curious as to the number.

My main, all day, every day machine is still 32-bit - I am typing from it now.

Toshiba laptop with 1.7ghz Pentium M from 2005 (I think).

I have long called it my "perfect" laptop and I will hate to see it go when the time comes! The keyboard has required a little repair over the past few years and is slowly becoming less servicable - otherwise I have no pressing need to replace it. I had an opportunity to buy a replacement 3-4 years ago and opted intead to upgrade it to 2GB RAM and 1TB hard drive - which has proven to be a good decision for me.

In addition I keep a live backup of all critical applications, data and configs sync'd to a desktop machine which also serves as NFS and Vbox host for the laptop. It is now on an AMD Phenom 3.1Ghz, but I install it with 32 bit OS for direct package and config compatability with the laptop. If the laptop becomes unavailable, the backup is current and already online. It has proven a stable easily managed arrangement for a very long time so I am in no hurry to see it end.

I now have a Core i3 laptop which will likely replace this one in time, but I also have a nearly-new Core 2 Duo which may yet win out over the i3. Both are running -current now, we'll see what happens after 14.2 is released.

With these and a few others, I still see 32 bit hardware in my own future for at least another round.

Just a point, those 2 machines you mention that you have now are 64-bit hardware, no longer 32.

I have no 32-bit machines left. They've all expired or been handed down to kids.

HA! Yes, I know.

I originlly wrote that last sentence after the paragraph that ends, "... in no hurry to see it end.", then interjected the i3 paragraph - I see that changed the apparent meaning, sorry.

The complete thought was like this - The Core 2 machine actually uses the same keyboard as the one failing on the 32 bit machine, and I have considered simply scavanging the keyboard and continuing a while longer with it. But I am reluctant to scavange from the newer machine which is in like-new condition and will more likely move to it or the i3.

But I have also become aware that after 10+ years of continuous use, configuring, updating, tweaking, etc, and itself being an extension from a previous much used machine - installing from scratch to the same level of function/usability without interruption is no simple matter in any case!

My primary system is a 32 bit Dell Inspiron 531s (Desktop) while my laptop is a 64 bit system running a 32 bit copy of Lubuntu.

EDIT: Upon further research, the processor in my Dell is also 64 bit but I use 32 bit copies of both Windows Vista and Lubuntu 14.04 on it.

32 bit died a long long long time ago. I think 2006/2007 was when I got my first 64bit machine

sorry guy, long is 32bit, long long is 64bit, long long long is even more... (but less than 2006).
I have only 64bit machines, altogether probably 256bit, but including our phones, RPis, bluetooth players... which one is the "main"?

Main desktop is 64 bit running antiX 64 bit version and 32 bit version.

Also running on a daily basis, an old PIII desktop, PIII Dell latitude laptop - both running 32 bit antiX.

A couple of work machines are 32 bit, running Win XP too. Oy

At time of posting, I'm amazed that almost 20% still use a 32-bit PC as their daily driver. I would have predicted at least 95% to be using x64 hardware as their primary PC.
