64 bit Wine and 64 bit Windows applications. SketchUp 2015/16 64 bit install fails.

I've been attempting to install SketchUp 64 bit version into WINE 1.8 package by AlienBob. The 32 bit version installs and runs without trouble, but 64 bit always spins and fails. I've read through WINEHQ and see that SketchUp 2016 is Platinum rated on Ubuntu 64, no problems (but it isn't clear if this is the 64 bit version) LQ threads have notes for SketchUp 2014 (only 32 bit version available) install on amd64, and "inkscape's" install of SketchUp.exe (2014 postings) but haven't found any 64 bit install information or hints. SketchUp web site says 2015/16 requirements require IE9 and Win7, which I didn't need to install for the 32 bit versions to run. Can anyone provide hints on installing 64 bit Windows applications to WINE which require IE9 and Win7, which are my settings through winecfg?

I'm trying to install SketchUp to do both home floor plan layouts and 3D modeling. SketchUp seems to be the right program. I was hoping the 64 bit version might work. I can work with the 32 bit version. But, I also saw a note of using Blender, a native Linux 3D program. Does Blender function for house plans and modeling?

Thanks, BrianA_MN

Yes, but it is way more complicated than SketchUp.

Thanks Bindestreck - I've built Blender and looked at the website. After starting it certainly seems like a much more powerful program for complex modelling. But with that power comes complex usage and I didn't see any templates for buildings. I'll still hope someone might respond to installing SketchUp 64 bit?
