Installing a 3 External Modem


Hi has anyone here done an install of a 3 external USB modem?

I need help. For a Dell pentium 4 laptop. Using Gnome.

Don't know the manufacturer "3"...but an external modem involves plugging it in, and pointing your software to it.

If it's an external USB modem, and you're only using one, then the device should show up as /dev/ttyUSB0. Since you don't say what you want to do (PPP? Serial dial-up?), you use whatever software (gnome-ppp, minicom, etc.), and point it at that device. Set the speed to be whatever the modem is (again, you don't say), and you're done.

Sorry T bone, its is a wireless broadband Modem, with a memory and program designed for Windows installs.

Hi I am now looking at this Linux venture for the answer. My my modem is a USB Wireless, ZTE modem.
