Installation problem Mandrake 10.1 and Gigabyte GA-M55+ Mb
Hi folks, I am trying to install Mandrake X86-64 10.1 from DVD on a Gigabyte GA-M55+3G motherboard with Sony DVD drive and 120Gb drive attached to the IDE channels. BIOS identifies both drives OK. All SATA channels are DISABLED. Boots from DVD OK and goes through "automatic phase" with various messages displayed, as shown below:
(snip)
have to insmod ide-cd
needs cdrom
needs ide-cd
succeded ide-cd
looking for ide media
have to insmod sr-mod
needs scsi mod
needs sr-mod
succeded sr-mod
....
looking for ide media
looking for scsi media
then it decides that there is no cdrom despite having booted off of one! It then prompts NO CDROM and asks for a driver. This I don't believe because it couldn't find the ide devices.
Looking at the install on a different PC I noticed that after the message "looking for ide media" ide devices are shown.
Has anybody come across this problem or have any ideas on the next move.
Thanks (in anticipation!).
