Having difficulty installing Konica Minolta magicolor 2530DL (on tcp/ip network) on Mandriva 2007 Free. Have the linux driver from OEM, 2530DL2.0.0-1.i386.rpm. As root, I run "rpm -i 2530..." and it says, "package magicolor2530DL-2.0.0-1 is already installed". So I try, "rpm -e 2530DL2.0.0-1.i386.rpm" and it says, "error: package 2530DL2.0.0-1.i386.rpm is not installed" I'm confused. Any thoughts.

So, then I go into printerdrake and it finds the 2530DL on the network. It next goes to the driver page, and there is a driver for the 2530DL. So I select it and try to install,but it pops up a window saying "Error installing 2530DL" or such.

Help.

Install by the filename: rpm -i 2530DL2.0.0-1.i386.rpm
Remove by the packagename: rpm -e 2530DL2.0.0-1.i386

Use cups to configure the printer: http://127.0.0.1:631

Okay. This helped quite a bit. Was able to install the 2530 printer at the IP address via CUPS, but it will not respond to any print request. Print jobs appear in the queue (lpq), but never leave. I resort to lprm them to clear the queue.

From the CUPS URL you gave, http://localhost:631, there is a button to release the job, and after selecting this, it still does not print. I wonder if this is related to what I see in printerdrake, the printer shows up as "Configured on other machines" rather than "Configured on this machine". Could it be that the printer software is not really a compatible CUPS server?

Your URL for openprinting.org seemed to confirm that this printer will work with Linux, but I cannot get it working yet. Will keep investigation and trying.
