In the market for a printer, please suggest known linux comptible printers

I dont yet have a printer, and I know that not all printers will work in linux, and some work, but take lots of work. Does anyone know of some printers that are known to work in linux straight out of the box?

I'd start by taking a look at the linuxprinting.org database, here:

http://www.linuxprinting.org/printer...gi?make=Anyone

Personally, I'd be inclined to go for some species of Epson, simply because the models I've tried have worked with a minimum of fuss.

Edit: Should also have mentioned the HCL:

I`d second that I have a really old epson stylus 300 and also a epson stylus 500 and both work with linux and work just fine even over a network from windoze. neither are recognised by connection to a windoze machine directly
ps u can get top up ink for pennys...hewlett-packard etc cost a fortune to buy there ink
