IBM Thinkpad x20 freezes at startup

My IBM Thinkpad x20 freezes in the ubuntu start up by printing the following message on the screen.

PCI Interrupt Link [LNKD] enabled at IRQ 11
setting IRQ 11 as level-triggered

pci interrupt 0000:00:0a.1[A] -> link [LNKC] -> GSI 11 (Level,low) -> IRQ 11

I've tried different settings for IRQ and didn't helped me. Finally I found a equal thinkpad like mine and inserted the same IRQs to mine while referring that. But again helpless..

It cannot boot by any os including windows XP. But I can boot it in safe mode.(XP)

Can u help me?

You should have one Intel chipset MiniPCI combo card inside the laptop that is causing the freezing. I also have a Thinkpad X20 with had the same problem. The only reason I can think of is that some driver of the kernel (I guess it could be specifically the e100 driver for the card) corrupts the eeprom of the NIC leaving it in a permanent bad condition that hangs the computer.
For me the problem was solved taking out the Intel combo card and replacing it with a 3Com model.

The affected part in my case is a Xircom combo card model MPCI3A56G-100 P made for IBM with P/N 19K5886 and FRU 19K5886.

Hope this helps.
