Red face I just purchased Dell Vostro 2520

One of the factors that led me to choose the Dell Vostro was it comes with Ubuntu Linux instead of windows 7 or 8. Not only is Linux a clearly superior OS, it also makes the laptop cheaper.

I do not play latest games. I only play emulator based games that were popular in early 90s such as Final Fight, Alien VS Predator and Midnight Resistance.

And other notable specs are -

4GB, DDR3, 1600MHz, 1 DIMM
Intel Core I3-2328M,2.2,SNB,C MLK
15.6" HD WLED Anti Glare
Intel HD Graphics/HD Graphics 3000

I want to discuss the display. I feel Intel HD 3000 can play video clips without any problem. I read it competes against lower-end dedicated graphics cards.

I am not sure how many of you are aware of the Dell technology called "TrueLife" but it appears this Vostro does not come with that. I always work with Photoshop and I am a little bit worried about that.

hd 3000 is intel's 'sandy bridge' GPU, IIRC. You're basically right in what you say. No promises at all on the games, but video clips should be ok. Intel's graphics technology is behind, but they have the smallest fab which is a huge deal where hardware is concerned.
