HP 5510 scans but won't print

I have a HP 5510. It was fine until recently.

Now I can scan, but it won't print. I've reinstalled the hpoj 0.91 drivers
Ptal-init setup, start both work

But when I ptal-connect , it always fails for printing but not scanning.

root@yos mn # ptal-connect mlc:usb:hp -print
ptal-connect: connecting to device "mlc:usb:hp"... failed!
root@yos mn # ptal-connect mlc:usb:hp -scan
ptal-connect: connecting to device "mlc:usb:hp"... successful.

What's wrong??

I am not an expert but I am going to try to help you,
what linux distribution do you have?

I had a similar problem with a psc 2210 printer, I solved the problem by choosing the local filtering option on my computer using Yast in SUSE linux 9.1,

I have heard that mandrake (mandriva) has a similar control center that allows you to configure your printer.

I have Yoper which is based on Slackware. It has all kinds of control options, but I don't know where to start.

Solved. I had taken hotplug off the boot sequence since it cycled so long. Once I ran hotplug, it worked.
