HP Officejet 5510 won't print

The printer was working before I did a dselect-upgrade(debian).
I did a diff between what is on my system back-up disc, and the present /etc/foomatic/lpd/lp1.ppd. They show to be the same.

I did an lprm to remove all print jobs:
Printer: lp1@hebrews 'HP OfficeJet 5500'
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
Status: job 'epjh@hebrews+193' saved at 17:57:05.571
I then tried to print a selection from a word document:
hebrews:~$ lpq
Printer: lp1@hebrews 'HP OfficeJet 5500'
Queue: 1 printable job
Server: pid 1236 active
Unspooler: pid 1246 active
Status: waiting for subserver to exit at 17:57:33.939
Rank Owner/ID Pr/Class Job Files Size Time
active(attempt-2) epjh@hebrews+233 A 233 (STDIN) 6780 17:57:33

It's showing two print jobs and not one?!
