GPS and minicom

Hi people, I have this project where I should display the results of data (longitude/latitude) of a GPS into a file in Linux OS. I just tried using mincom and it worked just the same as hyperterminal in windows. But how can I get the data itself. I am thinking two things but I can't figure how to do it. One is to get the log or history (I can't find it) of the data displayed. Or edit a file(I can't find it also) and redirect the output of the minicom in a new file. Somebody please help. THank you.

Have you tried using the minicom capture file option -C? You could process this file to display Lat / long.
