GPS from phone?


Hello, I have a AudioVox 8500 cellphone, and it comes with a GPS unit, with which my SP can locat me. I want to kow if theres anyway to tap into this device with linux in order to play around with this unit? has anyoen been able to do anything like this? where do i start? any starting points would be apprciated..

okay let me rephrase myself..
Is it possible to get any information regarding current location out of a GPS enabled cellphone? I went to that site.. and 4 out of 5 links were broken .. i have emailed the author and am waiting for his reply..
so in the mean time.. does any one know if its possible to get any informaiont from a GPS enabled cellphone?
