Good 19in flat-panel display?

I'm looking for a high quality 19in flat-panel display. It needs to be good enough for a graphic artist. Also, it needs to have a standard VGA plug, because I can't afford a new video card too. It also needs to work with Linux, of course! I'm looking in the price range of $300-$500. Thanks!

Generally, avoid the cheapest of the cheap.

For your price range you should be able to grab a 19" flat panel monitor with VGA input of these specs or better:

700:1 contrast ratio
300cd /m^2 brightness
20ms response time
1280*1024 resolution
75Hz vertical scan rate
<=50W power consumption

Don't buy unbranded or bargain-basement jobs unless you *KNOW* what it is you're buying. I say this because on many occasions monitors of different brands have exactly the same insides, just different cases.
