getting sandisk sd card up and running

I bought a sandisk 32gb extreme pro micro sd card (off ebay) that doesn't work properly but I'd like to get it going. I got a refund without having to return it so I still have it. This sd card shows up as a 2Tb drive in my card reader which is nutty. I have other microsd cards and they all read correctly so I don't think its the card reader. I'm running centos 7. Is there any software I can get that will zap this card or sort it out so it reads and writes correctly? or should I be using a different card reader? if so which one?
I've tried zeroing the card with dd but it ran for 2 days without completion and I ended up just stopping it. gparted live (1.0.0.2) also cannot seem to write to the card. thanks for any pointers.

Throw it in the bin.

Seriously, I've had the same thing with SanDisk cards, they are notorious for having the cards turn read-only if they detect faults and there's no way back from it.

The fact that your card is throwing so many different errors etc. would indicate it's not worth spending any more time and effort on.

I have not had this type of issue before but just as a suggestion have you maybe tried fdisk?

Seems like we posted at the same time so I am assuming fdisk was probably tried already.

There are fake brand-name SD cards even on Amazon, leave alone eBay. SanDisk seems to be one of favorites for forging.

You can try just clearing the mbr with dd:
Code:
# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdx bs=512 count=1
Replace sdx with the appropriate drive letter. Since you've already tried to zero fill the drive with dd, I assume you know how to properly identify the drive. Probably won't help, but it costs nothing to try. I agree with the others that feel the card is toast.

You know, you might be able to do a fake sdcard putting in no memory at all. It isn't until one is shoved in a machine that folks would find out.
OP, have you any proof there's any memory chip whatsoever in the sdcard?

I would never pass on this card to another knowing its current condition. It used to work (kind of) but has stopped working altogether now. I don't like giving up on things until I've tried absolutely everything.

Once upon time when I wasn't aware of this forging I bought five 8 GB SanDisk SD cards from Aliexpress. I had an 8 GB RPi image from another SanDisk SD card and I used dd to put it in one of them - dd ended with an error, the new card was about 20 MB smaller ... Then, two of these cards lost all their capacity within a week. They could take 8 GB at first, but ended up showing their capacity just a few MB. One of these cards still works, years later, it is in my dashcam and gets lots of writes. I'm starting to think they get their hands somehow to chips which didn't pass quality control and use these to make fake SD cards.
