Emu10k1 digital out problems

I am having a hell of a problem with ALSA and emu10k1. I have the digital din output from my sblive card going into my Creative Soundworks DTT2500. When I launch XMMS to play an mp3, the visulation bars act like it's playing but no sound comes out. When I crank the volume up on my speakers, I can faintly hear the music, as if something is muted. When I go into the alsa plugin configuration for xmms, there are three different audio devices to choose from:

default
Sound Blaster Live! EMU10K1: (hw:0,0)
Sound Blaster Live! EMU10K1 EFX: (hw:0,2)

The only one that gets sound is the last one, I assume it's the effects channel on the emu10k1, and it sounds horrible.

I am using FC2 and the test sound doesn't work when I run system-config-soundcard. I have gone into alsamixer and made sure that nothing is muted, which nothing is. I can't figure it out at all. I really want to get the digital out to work. ANY help would be great.

As a follow up, the master volume doesn't work in alsamixer. The only way to control the volume is to use the wave surround slider, other than that no other sound controls work except the tone controls.

I also have one more problem, how do I get my mic/line input to work? I have my tv tuner plugged into the mic input and no sounds come at all.
