Ok, I'm new here and not much of a forum goer, but I'm stuck and need help.
Here's the deal, I bought an Acer Travelmate 4402, and managed to get everything working under Slackware 10.2 with some kernel tweaking and whatnot.
Then I ran into some trouble with Wireless.
First of all, I have to admit, I'm new to wireless, and I'm new to laptops. Which means I'm new to PCMCIA, so this might explain part of my ignorance.
First I tried to make the integrated wireless card with NdisWrapper, which installed fine, modules worked etc... but then when i ran iwlist wlan0 scan. it would find nothing. Nor would it let me change the ESSID.
So I gave up and bought a cheap D-Link Airplus XtremeG (DWL-g650) rev B5.
The only reason to buy this card is that it appears in the kernel as supported by the Prism2 drivers (if i recall correctly)
But now, I can't seem to access the card via PCMCIA.
Here's some output from some of the common commands, dmesg doesn't throw anything other than "ioctl is deprecated" regarding PCMCIA
Code:
#cardctl ident
Socket 0:
no product info available
#cardctl status
Socket 0:
3.3V CardBus card
function 0: [ready]
#cardctl config
Socket 0:
Vcc 3.3V Vpp1 3.3V Vpp2 3.3V
interface type is "cardbus"
irq 11 [exclusive] [level]
function 0:
# cardctl info

#lsmod doesn't show much because I'm using a custom kernel with everything I needed compiled in.
Does anyone have any idea why the card isn't being recognized anywhere?
The card works just fine in windows, so I know it's not damaged...
Thanks a lot and sorry for the long post. Hope i haven't bored you too much and that this was posted on the correct section.
