DVD player sound issues...
I can't seem to get my dvd player to play sound. I can mount the dvd at /mnt/dvd and use ogle or mplayer to play it, but all I ever hear is a poping/crackeling noise. Sound in general works. I have sound events, and games like Heroes of Might and Magic 3 seem to work just fine. However, dvds refuse to play the soundtrack. Right now I have slack 9.0 / gnome installed, and am using oss. I DO have an extra sb 16 pci around that I can install if need be though finding the time to do so would be a bit of a pain. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem
I've not actually resolved this issue on my own PC... I did find a workaround though, of ripping the DVD to my hard-drive.
I'd be interested in what the proper solution is....

Thats nice to know, but I have an extensive dvd collection which makes such a sollution less than practicle. I may have to break down and just buy a set-top box if I can't find a sollution...
