dvd burning

Hi,

I'm interested in buying a DVD burner. I wanted to know as far as compatibility with linux does it matter what brand I buy?

Is there software out there that works with DVD dual format burners?

Thanks.

Just about any burner should work. USB devices tend to be harder to get going but if it's SCSI or IDE you're almost guaranteed to be OK.

I've got a liteon DVD +/- burner which works well with the latest K3b and Suse 8.2. aLthough I have found it much more reliable using +r / +rw 's than using the minus format. I haven't yet had a successful burn yet with the minus discs, had problems like k3b going through the process of burning the disc, reporting a successful burn, but finding nothing on the disc, and also the PC refusing to eject the DVD disc after burning unless I re-booted the machine. However I have had no problems burning + discs.

Hi Chup, No the files I have tried to burn on minus format have just been small test files usually DOcs etc. Is there a problem with burning files > 2gb? Is there a fix for it?
