I am using Acer travelmate 2400 Series notebook. When try to install Linux it couldn't able to identify the correct display, so when I selected one of the acer display settings from the list, it is not giving the proper display. Plz suggest me to how to do this?
What distro did you try to install? Suse 10, Mandriva 2006, CentOS 4.3 and Fedora Core 5, work fine for me on a Travelmate 2413 without any problems (The display is automatically detected). If you keep having problems, try using generic LCD settings.
What version of Redhat? If its Redhat 9 or RHEL 3.x then you may experience problems because they are old distros and the hardware detection may not be very good on newer machines.
I am using Redhat 9. So I have to upgrade to the new version? Any other solution? I have a motherboard cd with tha laptop. Could u plz give step up step guidence to update the driver for display?

You are better off installing a newer distribution like Fedora Core 5. Redhat 9 reached its end of life a long time ago, so Redhat no longer provides support and updates. Redhat Linux was replaced by Fedora Core and Redhat Enterprise Linux.
