Display adapter issue

I 'm having display issues with my laptop.... the screen goes blank after few minutes , and the graphics is not proper. I have fedora core 2 installed and the display adapter is S3 ProSavage km266.
I tried using the option " UseBIOS off " in xorg.conf file .. but that didn't help. Also tried with vesa driver.

Thanks in advance!!

Clues? We need some clues, please

What type of laptop?

Which kernel version #?

Does your BIOS support acpi, acpm ???

If so did you turn any or all of these off when you installed FC2? I only say this because it appears that your power management, or lack thereof, seems to be powering off your display.

At what stage is your display blanking? From a reboot have you logged in?

What is your laptop's natural screen resolution? What VESA settings did you try?

yes ..

during installation of FC2 it doesn't detect the display. It uses savage km133 driver for the video card.
The pointer movement is very random ..

I tried FC3 ... and was not able to do graphical installation ..... the screen flickers just wen the graphical installation begins .

It goes blank sometimes during installation and after logging in .

Have you tried looking for your make and model of laptop on:

http://www.linux-on-laptops.com ?

Someone there may have encountered the same problem.
