D-Link DWL-G520 wireless card question
Hello all,
I have Ubuntu Linux 5.04 installed on my partitioned hard drive, along with Windows 98 SE (on a dual GRUB boot). I have a wireless internet adapter; the D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-G520 High-Speed 802.11g Wireless PCI Adapter (rev B), with an Atheros chipset. Ubuntu has recognized it, but my internet still wont work. Has anyone used the same adapter with any other version (Fedora Core, SUSE, Debian, Kubuntu, Knoppix, etc.) of Linux? I'm trying to find a version of Linux, that automatically detects, and configures the card, si I don't have to mess with anything. I've been trying to get it to work, and already I messed it up so bad, I had to re-install Ubuntu! I'm willing to switch Linux's to get my internet working!
Thanks in advance!

Mepis 3.3 worked for me. But I prefer to use Fedora, now all I have to do is figure out how in the hell to configure Fedora to work with the G520. NDIS wrapper here I come, again!

This is what I came up with about NDIS wrapper:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/
But, it looked like it was only for Debian...is that true? Do you think it will work in Ubuntu? Or just Fedora?
And, do you mind explaining how to use it.
Thanks

Well I know that ndiswrapper works in fedora, I set it up on a friends laptop. It is just really difficult to configure and can be somewhat of a pain to control. If you use Mepis you won't have to worry about ndiswrapper, it found my G520 and configured it for me, but my parents computer is running Fedora and has been for 6 months or so, a little late to switch.

OK,
Right now, I'm downloading the iso image for the install cd.
But, I can't find a link to download a live demo cd for MEPIS.
I would like to try it before I install it.
Thanks!

Well, I read the manual, and figured out that; I can try it and install it from the cd... so that part is taken care of.
Now, I just have to see if it detects my card.

It should detect it without any trouble right from the disk. You can test it out as much as you like before you install it. Mepis is great, I just prefer Fedora due to the large user base and redhat backround that it has. I finally got my card setup via ndiswrapper and it has been working fine since yesterday. *crosses fingers*
