Custom DP Xeon for Linux, which mainboard?
Hi All,
i'm going to build a new DP Xeon system to be used with (Debian Testing) Linux only. So now I'm seeking for appropriate hardware components, especially a mainboard.
The main use of the new system will be software development and video editing. For video editing I'm going to use Cinelerra.
After a first look on the mainboard market, I had identified some boards:
- Asus PP-DLW, I7505, SATA
- Asus PC-DL Deluxe, I875
- Tyan S2668ANR, I7505, SATA
- Tyan Thunder I7505 (S2665) Prestonia
I'm not sure about the chipset on the Asus PC-DL. Is this board really stable?
Now the big question is, which of them is the best choice for Linux?
Or maybe somebody have other suggestions?
And do somebody knows if the on-board SATA controllers are supported by Linux?
If not, has somebody a tip for a good Linux supported SATA controller?
Thanks!
