I am using SuSE 8.1 pro with a Soundblaster Live card. I have constant static through my speakers. My sound card is recognized and under details it says "emu10K1 is not active" and below that it says snd-emu10k1. I know this may not be relevant just thought I would throw it in. I can put a cd in and play it with GRIP or anything else and the tracks load and it shows it as playing but I get nothing but constant static. Help?
I ran the info and SuSE is recognizing my Soundblaster card and my onboard audio but no drivers for the Soundblaster. I have downloaded the current Linux drivers from Creative Labs and pardon my ignorance I have no idea how install them. The readme in the .tar file says to delete every instance of another soundcard....I could probably follow directions and handle all that but my first obstacle is this.....how do I view the files on my cdrom? I can mount it but I see nothing as far as files go.
What version of Suse are you running? I had the same problem in that I could not play music cd's or see data files. There is a setting you have to change. Go to the Suse home page, select the support database, and do a search for cdrom, select the one about not mounting or whatever, and it walk you through correcting it.
I have a 5.1 speakers setup (analog) and i only get static through the centre speaker. I thinks its the digital out of the sound card. In windows i can turn the output to analog/digital but i don't know where to change this in SuSE
