Question Xine streaming audio static, Mplayer window too small

I have two problems. Ever since I did an update in Mandrake 10 last night (over 600 megs to fix bugs), when I stream video or just plain audio using gxine or xine, I get static. Video is just fine. Audio just comes out as static.

Also, when I stream video using mplayer, I only get a very tiny window that doesn't fill the black square that's there for the video.

These two problems are driving me crazy.
