It occurs to me, heh, that that was an INCREDIBLY vague post.
Um, what happens is, is that the OS locks on loading, after flying through several screens worth of info re: services starting, etc. Is it possible that having an SMP kernel installed with only a single cpu installed is causing the problem? I have 2 additional servers, the same models, both of which have dual cpus, and both which boot fine. The installs were all performed IDENTICALLY. The diskettes I'm using to boot them were created during install, so I assumed they have the same kernel as that on the boot partition, but it makes sense that it could be a generic single-cpu only kernel ..... thoughts on how to tell for sure/fix this mess. All three are production servers, and I really feel like I have my a$$ swinging out in the breeze booting from floppies .... any help would be appreciated.
