Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Compaq Proliant 1500

I guess this falls under hardware. I'm working on getting an ancient Proliant 1500 server up and running with Slack 9.1 and I've run into a problem. The thing has 5 9.1GB SCSI drive with a hardware RAID controller. But I can't build any arrays without the Compaq SmartStart cd, which I don't have. And it's unlikely my school will be willing to shell out the money just for this old server. Is there any way I can build a RAID 5 array without the Compaq cd?
The RAID controller is a Smart-2/P and the SCSI controller is....something else. I'll find that out and post it. If more information is needed just tell me what I'm missing. This is my first time working with server hardware ie: SCSI, RAID, weird new BIOS im not used to....

Thanks

I found the answer to my own problem. Just in case anyone else is my situation, this site will be EXTREMELY helpful http://www.geocities.com/rlcomp_1999...martstart.html
Most other sites always tell you to use the SmartStart CD....bah.
