cancel windows off my laptop


hi could anyone tell me how to delete windows os from my laptop. i tried to format the disc but the system denied. how to access ms dos consol before the system automatically start windows. thanks. harys
ps : laptop acer travelmate 516te.

Boot from a linux livecd and use it to format. (Or, for that matter, the windows cd)

If you boot from the linux live cd you can use qt parted to delete windows and then install mepis onto your system by clicking 'install me' on the desktop.
