synaptic too slow...can i cancel?

hello....

i am using synaptic now besides yum...

i started a full update this morning. and at first the download speed was gd, then it dropped to 1000+bytes/sec....i am stil on the downloading package files screen....

a) if i click cancel, will my 150 packages download be wasted?

b) is there some way to speed it up?

c) may i have some apt-get repositories from those of you also running FC4?

a) every completed file will stay in your cache, only the current one is lost

b) use a better mirror really... this isn't going to be a client side issue, it's much more likely to be your network or a restriction of the remote server. you might be able to find a faster mirror of whatever repo you use.

c) the main unoffial one seems to be Livna. try googling for livna.repo. there are then the larger generic ones like dag and atrpms. actually atrpms have a yum / up2date / apt configuration rpm which contains a lot of popular repos ready to roll for all three solutions, might be your best bet.
