Yes I'm attempting to install Ubuntu Desktop 14.04 LTS 64bit. Sorry to leave this hanging but I have some personal matters to attend to. Should be back in a week or so. Thanks for all of the help.
The problem was that my DVD drives were plugged into ASMedia SATA. Pluging them into the Intel Z87 SATA allows the install to start. But it doesn't see the Windows 7 64bit OS. And it won't set up the boot manager. Any ideas?
The partition manager during the install should give you g-parted or similar to create your partitions for Ubuntu. So your Windows os isn't showing up in the g-parted screen?
Depending on the size of your HDD you might have to shrink your Windows os first to make room for Ubuntu.
Than use that free space to create your Linux partitions.
I discovered that Linux does not support ASMedia SATA. That is where my DVD drives were cabled. I had to turn off secure boot to get Ubuntu to install & set up the boot loader. I turned secure boot back on after get it installed. Everything is working great now. Thanks for all of the help. Sorry it took so long getting this resolved. Went to Chicago in October & got rear ended. Totaled the car. Came home & had a heart stint put in. As you can see I have had a lot of things to take care of.

This is why I do not like extra third-party hardware on my motherboards and prefer Plain Jane motherboards with features only provided by the chipset. These extra features most often are not supported by Operating Systems other then Windows.
